OCEAN VIEW SUNDAY WORSHIP AT HOME

DECEMBER 13, 2020

WELCOME

Before we come into God’s presence together this morning, prepare yourself and space for a time of worship— grab your Bibles and turn to the Ephesians 5, get comfortable, prepare your mind and heart with prayer.

Now let us worship our Lord, as a people scattered throughout the city, in spirit and in truth.

Call to Worship

Now join in the call to worship by reading aloud together

Psalm 100: 1-5

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

Sing to the Lord from your heart with joy and thanksgiving!

SONG - build my life

SONG - Yet not i but through christ in me

SONG - OH, great is our god

(Kids help your parents sing this one!)

Offering

Prayer for the Offering

Have a family member pray for God’s continued blessing on the church.

“Dear Lord, We thank You that we can worship together. We experience Your blessings every day and Your blessings are always given to us freely and with ultimate love. Father, You loved us all of the way to the cross! May we love You enough to give You what is already Yours. Bless these tithes and offerings today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We thank God today for your faithful and generous giving during this time of separation. During this time, we are directing people to give through our secure, online portal.

If you prefer to write a check you can still mail it to our church address or drop it by the church office:

SCRIPTURE READING

Ephesians 5: 8-14

8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light

9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what

is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose

them. 12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. 13 But when

anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14 for anything that becomes visible is light.

Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

SERMON & communion

Awake O Sleeper

Sing praise to our Lord

song - wake up, o sleeper

Wake up, O sleeper
The day of days has come!
Rejoice,  Rejoice!
His victory has been won!
Our savior has made death to flee,
And trampled down our sin
Wake up, O sleeper
He is risen!

Wake up, O sleeper
The long night is done!
Rejoice,  Rejoice!
In the light of the Son!
As in Adam, all have died,
So in Christ we live!
Wake up, O sleeper
Our king is risen!

Wake up, O sleeper
The day is now at hand
Rejoice,  Rejoice!
Darkness met it’s end
We are the children of the light,
the children of the day!
Wake up, O sleeper
Rise up from your grave!

Benediction

Leader: “but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light”

Leader: This is the Word of the Lord!
